A Turntable that Plays the Life Stories of Trees
“Years” is a sound installation designed by German artist Bartholomäus Traubeck. Inspired by the idea of a vinyl record player, the installation transforms the growth rings of trees into music. Equipped with a PS camera, the device analyses these marks on the wood, and then maps them onto note patterns that are played on a piano. This interesting project blends digital technology and international resources to develop new musical possibilities.
