Visual artist Andrew Topel creates poetry from the physical reality of letterforms. After studying fine arts and drawing at university, he began exploring the borders between poetry and calligraphy. His concrete series was a temporary intervention bringing the joy of letters to grey concrete spaces. Letters Patterns Structures creates complex yet precise letter-shapes, reminiscent of Arab calligraphic mosaics. His comic Chemical is a fabulous whirl through mad science, political satire and the metastases of language.
