Conducting a magnetic storm: 20Hz
Semiconductor – Brighton-based artists Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt – create highly innovative and exploratory film works exploring the strangeness and beauty of the material world. Earlier this week they won the Samsung Art+ Prize for new media art. The Art+ is Britain’s first competition for digital media art, and provides an important new platform for artists who work with new technology and are inspired by its potential. Their 2007 film Magnetic Movie can be seen here, while their visual representation of audio data from a magnetic storm 20Hz is also being exhibited at the BFI Southbank in London as part of the Samsung Art+ Prize exhibition.

20Hz was commissioned by digital culture agency Lighthouse and supported by the British Council.
