Five of the Best / Amelia Gregory / Day 1
Every week on the Grafik Feed, we present Five of the Best, where a guest blogger introduces a themed list of five of their favourite things, over the course of the week. This week, it’s the turn of Amelia Gregory, the force behind Amelia’s Magazine and Amelia’s House, a new publishing venture. Amelia has chosen her top five up-and-coming illustrators from her latest book, Amelia’s Compendium Of Fashion Illustration , which showcases the work of thirty up and coming fashion illustrators who have interpreted the work of 45 exciting new ethical fashion designers.
Bex Glover
Bex Glover works in Bristol under the name of Severn Studios and she is featured in Amelia’s Compendium of Fashion Illustration because I fell in love with her wonderfully skilled and exuberant fashion illustrations. She is inspired by urban and street art such as graffiti and her illustrations often start out as scanned watercolour and spray effects that are then digitally manipulated to create fabulously expressive images that are full of texture and movement. Prior to setting out on her own Bex worked for many years as a graphic designer in London, and her extensive experience of dealing with commercial clients has given her a good grounding in how to build her own design business, something which is incredibly important for a freelance illustrator. Bex Glover will be joining me in Bristol at the Soma Gallery on Thursday 26th May 2011.
