Making Magazines 2012
A one day conference is taking place at St Bride Library next month to celebrate the making of magazines. Much is often made of the (impending) death of print journalism, and magazines are facing similar pressures. Nevertheless, contemporary magazines are still a wonderful platform for creative innovation. The day’s speakers come from the print, digital, mainstream, independent and specialist sectors and include illustrator and designer Christoph Niemann, whose covers for the New Yorker are justly celebrated, Marissa Bourke, the creative director of Elle, Russell Davies, co-founder of the Newspaper Club, Andrew Diprose of Wired and the Ride Journal, Gill Hudson from Reader’s Digest and Danny Miller, the founder of Little White Lies film magazine and creative agency Church of London.
The conference has been organised by Jeremy Leslie and Simon Esterson, and is supported by MagCulture, Eye magazine and St Bride Library.
Tickets are £85 (£70 for friends of St Bride) and are available online here.
