Shaped to your life: Luminaire-K
Microsoft’s massive-selling Kinect motion sensor has been a huge success with gamers, but a team at France’s School of Industrial Design (ENSCI) are using it to create a new type of product. By recording people’s daily movements and postures, the Kinect can amass data which allows for an unprecedented degree of personalisation in terms of design.

Their Luminaire-K lamp shines just the right kind of light on different parts of a room, having been manufactured and assembled to reflect the way the room is actually used. Project Kinect took six months and involved two teachers and seventeen students. It is a collaboration between ENSCI and Microsoft France.
