05/04 → 10/06/2012 / Modern Art Oxford, Oxford
This week, Modern Art Oxford hosts a major solo exhibition, book launch and UK premier for British artist Shezad Dawood, who’s work across film, painting and light sculpture, often includes restaged and reimagined moments appropriated from multiple cultures and histories.
For example, Brion Gysin’s psychedelic contraption, the Dream Machine – never far from a portable turntable in the 1960s – is reworked by Dawood in his, New Dream Machine Project, comprising a large-scale, kinetic light sculpture and film.
The first major monograph of Shezad Dawood’s work also conincides with the exhibition, Piercing Brightness, at Modern Art Oxford from 5 April through 10 June, 2012.
