Something Familiar
Get your reading glasses on, the London Art Book Fair is coming to the Whitechapel Gallery this September. The fair brings together art books from individual artist publishers, galleries, magazines, colleges, arts publishing houses, rare book dealers and distributors, celebrating international art and design publishing. The programme includes a wide range of events of talks, discussions and workshops featuring names such as artist Cornelia Parker, The Museum of Everything founder James Brett and film artist Kenneth Anger.
One event that jumped out at us is a talk from the folks at Four Corners Books. They gather together designer John Morgan and artists Gareth Jones, David Musgrave, Donald Urquhart and Mireille Fauchon to look at the creation of their ongoing series of books, Familiars, in which a range of different artists and designers reimagine classic titles such as Dracula, The Picture of Dorian Gray and Vanity Fair.
The fair draws together some of our favourite things, art, design and books, and looks set to be a interesting and insightful showcase of the work created in art publishing today.
